In my last post about passing the CCNA: Security exam, I said that in future I would persue more hands-on certification and update my blog, as I progressed. However, in Australia nearly every IT sys admin/support job posted, is asking for Microsoft experience and certification. So I’ve decided, for the next 3 months, to study for the MCITP Training : Server Administrator and post tutorials, updates and the like as I go along. I really wanted to start working towards the OSCP, but doin some more MS certs seems like the right choice at this particular time.
Anyway, the MCITP: Server Administrator requires you sit the following 3 exams:
Exam 70-640 (earns MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Configuration)
Exam 70-642 (earns MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure Configuration)
Exam 70-646 (Pro: Windows Server 2008, Server Administrator)
I already hold the 70-640, so any tutorials from now that I post will be based on the 70-642 and the 70-646.
When I last sat the 70-640 exam, Microsoft required that you recertify every 3 years, this, however I hear has changed. The cert now is valid for as long as Microsoft support the OS. As some companies still use 2000 and 2003, I reckon this cert will last quite a while, as it’s based on server 2008.
The study materials I will be using for the Microsoft MCTS Certification: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure exam is the following:
MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure Configuration Study Guide: Exam 70-642
Microsoft MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-642): Configuring Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure
CBT 70–642 Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure
VMWARE
Windows 2008 Server(obviously)
I’ll start posting tutorials in the coming days.
Spot on with this write-up, I actually suppose this web site wants rather more consideration. I’ll most likely be again to learn far more, thanks for that info.
